Shaun Ray left Alabama for the army; he left the army to study in the city; he left the city for the desert and the Colorado River. He builds his songs out of juniper, red dirt, heartbreak, and whatever they put in the water in Muscle Shoals. He sings like Aretha Franklin was a 3rd Avett Brother.
